My journey to yoga

It all began with my father, Kenneth Werrell. Deep thanks and gratitude to Dad who, having been a student of B.K.S Iyengar in the ’70s and subsequently a teacher of the method, introduced me to Yoga when I was a teenager. My first career as a midwife taught me about anatomy, physiology and psychology. As Yoga is a science as well as an art this was a good basis for the future. Even more importantly working as a midwife showed me how mind and body can powerfully work together, particularly for women in labour…

The Iyengar Method

The Iyengar method of yoga is named after our teacher Sri B.K.S Iyengear. The teaching helps you focus on correct alignment of the body in poses, ensuring that you are working safely, with maximum benefits to flexibility, strength and well-being.

Classes generally start with simple poses moving to more advanced poses, ending with a period of relaxation sometimes incorporating breathing techniques. Props, such as blocks and belts are sometimes used in class to allow those with less strength or flexibility to work correctly and achieve their full potential..

Sarah Werrell is a talented and experienced Yoga teacher. I have been her student for two and a half years. During this time she has taken me on a journey both physical and philosophical that has greatly improved my quality of life. Her teachings have become part of my daily routine, improving my psychophysical balance. (Yoga is essential to women in my opinion, as nature has given us great responsibilities.) I warmly recommend Sarah’s classes to anyone.

Teri Teodorani

I have been attending Sarah’s classes now for a couple of years.  She is a great Iyengar yoga teacher, has a way of getting the best out of a group of mixed abilities.  Always compassionate, patient and supportive.  Sarah’s classes are The Best!

Pat

I decided to take up yoga again for the first time in five years and Sarah Werrell’s yoga class in Maidenhead was the perfect place to start. With small class sizes and Sarah’s calm tuition, it’s a great class for a beginner or those more advanced as she adapts the lesson to what you can do.

Sophie Flowers

Sarah is a fantastic teacher. She is so passionate about yoga and teaching. I have been going to Sarah’s classes for nearly 2 years and it has made a huge difference to me. I sleep better, have more energy, and it helps with my backache. I recommend anyone give it a go!
